KALAHARI HOSTEL
Our hostel provides a safe, supportive, and structured environment where learners feel at home while focusing on their studies. With dedicated supervision, comfortable facilities, and a strong sense of community, boarders are encouraged to grow academically, socially, and personally in a caring atmosphere.

Message from the superintendent
As hostel parents and house committee we are very excited about this year and all its exciting challenges and many opportunities. We can't wait to welcome you and introduce you to the delights of life as a member of our hostel. Even though the hostel can never replace the parents' house, the homely atmosphere we offer is not far from it. You will soon feel at home and wonder why all the uncertainty was necessary now.
It is also important that you keep Kalahari High School's values in mind and live them out at all times - respect, responsibility, honesty, caring and humility. Our boarding students live, study, play and relax within the guidelines of our school rules and we strive to always have respect for ourselves and to have a positive influence on our fellow residents.
The hostel is more than just a home where lifelong friendships, dreams and experiences are built. The Kalahari Hostel is a balanced hostel that annually performs exceptionally in the cultural, leadership, social, academic and sports fields, not to mention the social and spiritual activities.
However, it is not the outstanding achievements that we are most proud of, but also the happiness, care, humility and love that is visible every day in the corridors and in every household member.
Come and overwhelm us with your passion, creativity, drive and unique self! Here you will make a difference! However, always remember who you are, where you come from and who you want to be. Seize every opportunity that comes your way!
Kala greetings
Mr De Villiers Goosen (Superintendent)
Preacher writes the school anthem that will never be forgotten
On 21 May 1928, the 74-year-old Rev A L J Hofmeyr became minister in Kuruman — a dynamic leader with a deep passion for youth development. He took a keen interest in both schools, and through his exceptional eloquence and ability to inspire, he captivated young and old alike. A gifted musician, he often carried a portable organ and delighted learners by playing music for them.
Rev Adriaan Hofmeyr also composed the school anthem, still sung today by Seodin Primary School and Kalahari High School. Its timeless words continue to stir emotion and unite generations of learners and alumni across the country in their shared connection to Kalahari.
