Letter from Hostel Manager
Hannelie Ludik:
Kalahari H / S residence is an old building with great challenges but also has a rich history and many “remember” times… It is nice for me when a child comes to enroll and the moment they walk in the “remember” starts spontaneously flow… “We always slipped through this, we always came here to get our sandwiches, we always came here to help bake pancakes… and so this history becomes part of a next generation again. My goal is to make the cold impersonality of a residence a warm and homely “remember” experience for every child.
I have a very loyal workforce at the residence and we are supported by a strong management team that makes things run smoothly. We improve and renovate large sections of the residence every year. We also keep up as far as possible with new technology regarding a camera system inside the residence as well as on all outside doors. We have a central heating system for hot water and electronically controlled gates on all outside gates for safety. Service staff are available on site at all times as well as study times take place under the supervision of staff.
Recreational facilities such as the swimming pool, tennis courts, gymnasium and sports ground are available every afternoon

strong, healthy functioning families, it makes our job easier
If they do not come to us from strong, healthy functioning families it makes our job more important ”
